This post was written in 2006 (when I was nineteen) & not originally part of Soul Drift.

4th March 2006 at Rescue Rooms, Nottingham

Headliner: Howling Bells
Support: House of Brothers & The Cinematics

The gig was very good indeed. I was very impressed by House of Brothers which was just one guy & an acoustic guitar (I just wish the crowd would have shut up for him) & The Cinematics (although their mannerisms were very Franz Ferdinand-y). I think it’s a shame that The Cinematics keep getting shot down by magazines (*cough*NME*cough*) purely because other bands with a similar sound broke through first, because I think they have a lot to offer. Their EP is rather good. Howling Bells were good again, but I can’t help but think they were better as a support band… sorry! I annoyingly felt like I was going to faint half way through their set. This has happened at practically every gig I’ve been to in the last 2 years. I just get over-heated I guess.
