September has arrived, & I thought I’d kick off the month by letting you all know about the bands who are preparing to release some great new material! If there’s anything I’ve missed out, feel free to leave a comment on this post. Sorry for the lack of photos in this post by the way, I’m away at the moment & don’t have access to a FTP programme. I’ll add some at some point next week!
The new Apocalyptica single featuring Corey Taylor of Slipknot/Stone Sour, ‘I’m Not Jesus’, is to be released soon. If you are a UK residents, you can pre-order the single as a CD & 7″ bundle pack for £4 & get a poster with it absolutely free! Just click here to order. However, if you do not want both formats, you can also pre-order them separately for the normal price.
The new single from indie band Editors called ‘An End Has A Start’ will be available to buy in stores from Monday 3rd September. Three formats are available: CD & Numbered Clear 7″ (which feature the exclusive new track ‘Open Up’) & on Maxi CD (which includes remixes of ‘An End Has A Start’ from Jacknife Lee, The Whip and Boom Bip). If you order all three formats of ‘An End Has A Start’ from RecordStore, you will receive a free Editors tour postcard set. Click here to order. In addition to this, a live version of ‘An End Has A Start’, recorded during Editors performance at the London iTunes festival, will be available to download exclusively from iTunes on Sunday 2nd September. An acoustic version of the single will also be available on iTunes at the same time.
Alternative/industrial band, The Birthday Massacre, are releasing their new album ‘Walking With Strangers’ on 10th September. In anticipation of this, they will be posting some of their new tracks on their MySpace Page. The list will change daily so that they can give a sample of what is to come!
Glam girl Dirty Harry is releasing her long-awaited follow up to 2003’s ‘The Trouble with… Harry’ on the 23rd of this month. It’s to be called ‘Songs From The Edge’ & you can hear a couple of tracks from it on her MySpace Page. You can also save some money by pre-ordering the album on her official website.
Good time rockers, The Donnas, are releasing their new album ‘Bitchin” soon, & if you pre-order it here, you can receive an autographed CD booklet with the purchase while stocks last!
Other albums released this month:
- Once Upon a Time in the West by Hard-Fi (3rd)
- The Divine Conspiracy by Epica (7th)
- MantaRay by Siouxsie Sioux (10th)
- The Meanest of Times by The Dropkick Murphys (18th)
- White Chalk by PJ Harvey (24th)
- Down III: Over the Under by Down (25th)

Finally, locally speaking (Nottingham), all-girl punk band, The Smears, have posted a track from their upcoming album (Seven Deadly Sins) called ‘Gluttony’ on their MySpace Page, it’s really good so check it out! Comedy/punk band Arse Full of Chips have also announced that they’re releasing an album called ‘You Can’t Pull A Burger’. You can buy it for £2, each CD is customised & in limited stock… it’ll apparently also make you “sing yourself insane”. I’m assuming you can buy the CD at their upcoming gigs, the next being at The Purple Turtle in London on September 3rd. You can find out more about them here.
