It’s been a while again, but I’m hoping to update this a bit more in the next few weeks. Look out for a review of the Metallica concert I’ll be attending next week!
I always feel quite slow & bad when writing about bands that formed years ago & I’ve only just stumbled upon them via MySpace. Nevertheless, Brain Surgeons are another band of a few that have stood out to me in the last few months. The band was formed by original Blue Öyster Cult drummer, Albert Bouchard, & his wife Deborah Frost, a rock critic & ex-Flaming Youth drummer. The band formed in 1994 as a traditional rock band, but after several line-up changes & the joining of ex-Manowar guitarist Ross the Boss in 2003, the music turned in a heavier direction.
The music is hard rocking & the vocals are vaguely reminiscent of (a female) Brian Johnson (AC/DC), particularly on the track ‘Plague of Lies’ – which is definitely a track to check out. It’s great to know there is another strong female in the music industry, I’m just sorry it took me this long to discover her & the band!
Their most recent full-length album, Denial of Death, was released in 2006.
