I first mentioned Break of Reality on this blog in November 2007 because I was so impressed with their cello-rock cover of System of a Down’s ‘B.Y.O.B’ I found on YouTube. I tried to get hold of music by them with no luck & I sort of forgot about them. However, when I re-opened this website I rediscovered them & added their MySpace page to find they were starting again, with a new line-up & a brand new album – I couldn’t wait to hear it!
The wait is finally over as they have posted the entire album on their MySpace page to stream for free until Sunday (3rd May). Now, I’m a sucker for most things cello-related, but this album has to be listened to! It is incredibly beautiful, yet hard-(cello)rocking. My favourite tracks at the moment would have to be ‘Che’ & ‘Anodynia IV: The Finale’, but all the tracks have a striking sound. It is about time this quartet got some recognition & I have a feeling they will get it with Spectrum of the Sky. The album is released on 15th May, but make sure you don’t miss out on the free listen!
